Principal Corner

A new year has started and with that many people make New Year’s resolutions. A lot of times, we make these to try and improve ourselves. Losing weight, going to the gym more, walking or running every day are a few common resolutions. What if we were going to make some New Year’s Christian resolutions to live a life closer to the life Jesus lived. What would be on your list? Here are a few suggestions of ways we might be more like Christ in this year.

1. Go to church more often. Hearing God’s word is always good and gathering with fellow believers helps us to feel a part of the body of Christ.

2. Attend a Bible Study group. Going further in depth in studying God’s word is helpful to grow and develop our faith.

3. Try to tithe to our church or increase the percentage of what we have been given in the past.

4. Pick an area you need to work on and try not to give into that temptation. It could be judging others, gossiping, lying, what ever it is, try to live more like Christ.

This is a short list of what could be a very long list. You don’t have to try to improve everything at once, but working to be more Christ like in 2024, would be something that not only would bless you, but would also bless those around you. And the best news if you fail, you do not have to wait for next year to try again, when we confess our sins to God, he gives us a clean slate to start over and to be more like Christ. Our theme for this school year is “Live the Light”, there is no better way to “Live the Light”, then to be more like the light, Jesus Christ.

CHAPEL OFFERING

Toys for Tots - We collected a total of 125 items for Toys for Tots! We also collected $178 in chapel money also for the organization!

In January, we will plan on collecting for Lutheran’s for Life. In the past, we have had a contest throughout the month and collect in two different baby bottles to see who collects more, the boys or the girls, in each class.

BASKETBALL SEASON IS HERE

Basketball season is in full swing with lots of games and practices throughout the next couple month. Check out the calendars for times when our teams play! We encourage all families to come watch the games! We always need help with concessions and the score clock and book! Sign ups for upcoming games and be found below or in the description of each event on the calendar.

If anyone knows any referees that would be available for our home basketball games, please send Mr. Stockman or Jacqie an email. We are limited on who is available this season, similar to last season.

January Choir Dates

Sun, Jan 14th : 6-8 Grade Choir @ 10:15 Service

Sun, Jan 21st : K-2 Choir @ 10:15 Service

Classroom Geography Bees will take place this week. The top two students in each grade will then compete at the end of January in an All School Geography Bee. This used to be done by a National Geographic Society and our students had a chance to compete in a National Geography but this was permanently cancelled as on March 2023 but we love to continue the tradition at Trinity.

Limited to Water

Please, help keep our students from bringing anything but water to school. We have had a few instances of messes created because of open containers like cans of pop, etc. We would prefer, that only water is brought to school. This also allows opportunity for earning other beverages among the students. For growing children and adults, water is essential and we should push good daily hydration . We ask again that only water be brought from home by students from now on. In fact, we encourage drinking water throughout the day!

Trinity PTL Basketball Tournament is January 26th & 27th; to make this event a success PTL is looking for someone who can donate a Thrivent Card, cash and scrip cards. Please see sign up button below.

Clothing for Cold Weather

What to wear when the weather turns cold?  Here are the guidelines we use to determine what the students should wear outside. Be advised that we are very firm on these rules, so please make sure that your child has the appropriate clothing that is needed.

Below 55, they need long sleeves.

Below 50, they need a sweatshirt or jacket.

Below 40, they need a winter coat, head covering (hat, headband or earmuffs, NOT just a hood), and gloves or mittens. If they do not have the correct type of coat, or head covering, they will need to borrow from someone else, or use something from the Lost and Found. We do not have kids stay inside unless they are sick.

To play in the snow, they must also have snow pants and boots. They will need to stand on the sidewalk if they do not have either of these items.

If it is muddy outside, we will require the students to wear boots, even if there is no snow.  This is to make sure we don’t track a lot of dirt into the classrooms.

SLEDS that are soft/foam or roll up may be brought and left at school.

EVERYONE should have a pair of tennis shoes that stays at school for gym class and if they forget their shoes.
