Principal Corner

Christmas songs on the radio, choir practicing songs for the Christmas services, Christmas music in the classrooms. Music is a big part of our lives both at Christmas and other times of the year. We sings songs to ourselves many times when we are scared and need comfort or having fun and want to share the joy with others. We play music before games to get us ready. I recently read about one of our younger students was going to their first game and their parents asked if they wanted a song to pump them up. They replied, “Do Lord”. Isn’t that a great song for a young person or any person to want to hear?. We are asking for our Lord to remember us. The Good News is he already has. He was thinking of all of us when he went to the cross and gave up our life so we could have eternal life with Him in heaven. That is what life in a Christian school can look like. Students turning to the songs they sing and hear for comfort and reassurance. God is there for each and everyone of us through Christian Songs, devotions, sermons from pastors, and His word in the Bible.

Clothing for Cooler Weather

What to wear when the weather turns cold?  Here are the guidelines we use to determine what the students should wear outside. Be advised that we are very firm on these rules, so please make sure that your child has the appropriate clothing that is needed.

Below 55, they need long sleeves.

Below 50, they need a sweatshirt or jacket.

Below 45, they need a winter coat, head covering (hat, headband or earmuffs, NOT just a hood), and gloves or mittens. If they do not have the correct type of coat, or head covering, they will need to borrow from someone else, or use something from the Lost and Found. We do not have kids stay inside unless they are sick.

To play in the snow, they must also have snow pants and boots. They will need to stand on the sidewalk if they do not have either of these items.

If it is muddy outside, we will require the students to wear boots, even if there is no snow.  This is to make sure we don’t track a lot of dirt into the classrooms.

SLEDS that are soft/foam or roll up may be brought and left at school.

EVERYONE should have a pair of tennis shoes that stays at school for gym class and if they forget their shoes.

Parent-Student Directory

Within registration, every family had an opportunity to opt out their information for the Parent-Student Directory. These are sometimes very handy when wanting to address birthday invitations or put names to faces and match kids with parents. They are a great resource and are finally ready to print. Jacqie was a TAD busy with some other items at the beginning of school and finally was able to get the Parent-Student directory updated and ready to go. If you opted out your information, only your name and your children are listed, no other information. Normally we just hand them out to everyone but I know some families may not need one or want one. Please place your order by clicking on the button below and I’ll get them printed and handed out next week.

You can also check out the Google Calendar under Parents > School Calendar to subscribe.
