Principal Corner

After the Preschool Thanksgiving play, one of the preschool dads offered to help and picked up a bench to carry back to the school. His two sons, seeing dad carry a bench, went and each grabbed one end of the bench to carry it, following dad. Our children see what we do, and many times want to follow in our footsteps. As I look at myself, I see many things about me that came from my parents. Many would say it’s genetics. But I think watching what our parents do, how they act with others, if they serve others, how often we attend church, has a big impact on what our children will do now and when they grow up. If we want our children to grow up as followers of Christ, serving God and others on this earth, then we need to make sure we are doing those things we want them to do. Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples of all nations. We do that through our service to our church and service to those around us.

Turkey Cages

The 2nd Grade class had fun with a STEM project, creating cages for turkey’s so they can’t escape the Thanksgiving feast! Many different building blocks and supplies were used to create the cages!

CHAPEL OFFERING

THE ONE & ONE Hungry Challenge was a success!!! We brought in $220 for the Waseca Food Shelf and many items for the Janesville Food Shelf.

Now we will start collecting for Toys for Tots. This program helps local children from 0-16 receive a gift. We collect NEW, UNWRAPPED toys NOW until December 13th. There is a box for toy drop off located in the entrance of the school.

FANCY DAY

2nd Annual FANCY Day was enjoyed by the 5th & 6th Grade classes and their guests on Monday, Nov 20th.

Fancy Day is more than a tea party. It is about creating an experience you don’t normally have and broadening the kids’s view of the world.

It’s also an opportunity for Mr. Sheehy to serve his students and parents in more ways than one. He is a firm believer that leading by example is the only way to lead. Mr. Sheehy is already looking forward to next year and continuing to grow and improve

Fancy Day 2023-2024 was successful thanks to Ms. Jacqie & Ms. Kemp for helping me put it all together. Mrs. Leiding & Kristy Schuft for the tea pots and tea, and Cakes by d.Raecakes who made the cookies and mini cakes.

Clothing for Cooler Weather

What to wear when the weather turns cold?  Here are the guidelines we use to determine what the students should wear outside. Be advised that we are very firm on these rules, so please make sure that your child has the appropriate clothing that is needed.

Below 55, they need long sleeves.

Below 50, they need a sweatshirt or jacket.

Below 45, they need a winter coat, head covering (hat, headband or earmuffs, NOT just a hood), and gloves or mittens. If they do not have the correct type of coat, or head covering, they will need to borrow from someone else, or use something from the Lost and Found. We do not have kids stay inside unless they are sick.

To play in the snow, they must also have snow pants and boots. They will need to stand on the sidewalk if they do not have either of these items.

If it is muddy outside, we will require the students to wear boots, even if there is no snow.  This is to make sure we don’t track a lot of dirt into the classrooms.

SLEDS that are soft/foam or roll up may be brought and left at school.

EVERYONE should have a pair of tennis shoes that stays at school for gym class and if they forget their shoes.

Parent-Student Directory

Within registration, every family had an opportunity to opt out their information for the Parent-Student Directory. These are sometimes very handy when wanting to address birthday invitations or put names to faces and match kids with parents. They are a great resource and are finally ready to print. Jacqie was a TAD busy with some other items at the beginning of school and finally was able to get the Parent-Student directory updated and ready to go. If you opted out your information, only your name and your children are listed, no other information. Normally we just hand them out to everyone but I know some families may not need one or want one. Please place your order by clicking on the button below and I’ll get them printed and handed out next week.
