Principal Corner

We are in the last two weeks of school, and there is so much to do. Not only in my school life, but also some things I need to take care of in my personal life. It seems lately I am so busy, I could use an extra few hours each day. As I sat for a moment to write this article, a thought came to my mind, I need to spend some quiet time with God. But how do I have time to do that? And the answer is: how do I not have time to do that? Spending the quiet time with God, helps to put our focus back on the things God is putting before us that need to get done. It helps us to sort out those unnecessary items from those that we really need to do. God’s list of importance is very different from the worldly list of importance. As I think about the next two weeks and what I need to do, I know that everything will get done, it has in the past, and it will in the future. I know I have people God has placed in my life that will help me get these tasks completed. I know with God all things are possible, but that I need to yield to His will in my life. The busier things get, the more we need to spend time with our Father. To an unbeliever, this would seem the opposite of what we would expect. But God’s ways are not the ways of the world, and our ways should not be of the world either.

FIELD TRIP WEEK

It’s not really a designated week for field trips, but they all tend to fall in the same week because that is when it works! Couple reminders:

  • Make sure if you are chaperoning you have turned in a copy of your driver’s license and have gotten a background check completed - see Jacqie if you haven’t yet. This needs to be completed before you chaperone.

  • We are taking buses, keep them neat and clean up after ourselves. The bus driver is the boss of the bus. Be respectful.

  • These are not vacation opportunities, they are learning opportunities for the students and are part of a school function. Depending on the class and location, you may be in charge of other children and have limitations on what can be done or seen due to time constraints or schedules to keep, please keep that in mind.

  • Jacqie will be out of the office on Thursday, May 16th with the field trip. Darsie Stockman will be filling in to answer the phones and the door. I’ll be able to check Procare and email.

FRIENDLY REMINDERS:

  • Arriving at school before 8:10 am, please go through the gym unless you are a Preschool parent.

  • At the end of the day, please remain outside and wait for your student. They are released at 3:05 pm.

  • When picking up children for appointments, please report to the school office.

  • When a child is going to be absent or , please send a message via Procare (it gets to both the teacher AND the office) OR make sure you are sending a message to both the teacher and the office if not using Procare.

  • Children cannot be in the school outside of school hours without an adult present. If they are, it is defaulted that they are signed into SAC. There are many different circumstances and we will accommodate whenever necessary.

  • If you have anything to drop off, for students or teachers, please drop them in the office, not in the workroom. If Mr. Stockman or Jacqie are not available, leave a note if it is not clearly marked where it should go. We want to limit to the workroom to staff or volunteers only.

END OF SCHOOL IS GETTING CLOSER

A couple things we want to point out on the calendar:

  • Preschool last day is THURSDAY, May 23rd. There will be no Preschool on Friday, May 24th.

  • 1/2 DAY Friday, May 24th for K - 8. We only have school until 11 on the last day. Please let us know if your child will need to stay longer than that. We will offer care through the afternoon if there is enough of a need. Please sign up below by the 20th of May.
